Ownership isn’t easy,but it is worth it.

Wakeup calls come in all kinds of ways. Mine came in the form of a 1 yr old. In November 2017, I took a two weeks business trip. When I arrived back home and walked in my front door, my daughter wouldn’t come to me. I set my bag down and decided that I was done. I was respected at work. I had a title. I was flying first class a lot. My career trajectory was fantastic. In that moment, standing in my doorway, none of that mattered. I realized that the more I gained at my old company, the more I lost at home. My decision to look for something else wasn't about money. It was about the people I cared for the most. It was about my current and future relationships. Sure, making good money is still something I wanted, but it couldn’t come at the cost of what mattered most to me.

Within a few weeks, I was on the phone with someone who was building a business in financial services. Leaving a salary for a commission based role made me a little nervous, but my excitement and drive to build something better wouldn’t let me hesitate. I started part-time in March of 2018 and was full-time by the first week of May. Today, our team is impacting hundreds of families a year in more than 20 states. This work is not easy, but it is simple. It does not allow for complacency, but it will make room for the dream you have. You will have to sacrifice your ego and your ease, but this business does not ask you to sacrifice your family or income.

When you have a strong enough why, it will support you on your toughest days.
