Derek Maddox Agency ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent life insurance agency. This policy explains what information we collect through derekmaddoxagency.com and in the course of serving you, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain English — the same way we do insurance.
Information we collect
- Information you send us. When you submit the contact form on this site, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if provided), what you're interested in, and your message. Submissions are delivered to us by email and also stored securely on our server so your inquiry is never lost.
- Scheduling information. If you book an appointment through the embedded Calendly scheduler, Calendly collects the details you enter (name, email, appointment time) under Calendly's own privacy policy, and shares them with us so we can hold your appointment.
- Insurance details you share with us. If you ask us to quote or place coverage, we collect the information needed for that purpose directly from you during our conversations, such as your date of birth, health and lifestyle information, beneficiary details, and coverage goals.
- Technical information. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies; the embedded Calendly scheduler may set its own cookies.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the information you asked for.
- To shop coverage options and obtain quotes from licensed insurance carriers on your behalf.
- To schedule and hold appointments, and to service policies we've helped place.
- To meet legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations that apply to licensed insurance agents.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With insurance carriers and underwriters, as needed to obtain the quotes or coverage you request;
- With service providers who help us operate (such as scheduling and email providers), who may use it only to provide those services;
- When required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you opt in to receive text messages from us, the following applies:
- Consent to receive texts is optional and is never a condition of purchasing anything.
- Transactional messages cover things like appointment confirmations, scheduling updates, and replies to your inquiries. Marketing messages cover things like policy options and educational material, and are sent only if you separately opted in to them.
- Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above and for the record-keeping periods required of licensed insurance agents. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections on this site, to protect information in our care.
Your choices
You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP, unsubscribe from emails via the message itself or by telling us, and request access to or correction of information we hold about you by emailing derek@derekmaddoxagency.com.
Children
This site and our services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the updated version here with a new effective date.
